11.05.09 - Adam's Century See Isham Home

The Sunday XI once again saved Isham's weekend by completing another 10 wicket victory against Rutland League opposition, this time at home to Yaxley.

On a dry but flat pitch, Yaxley chose to bat first but soon found themselves in trouble, as two early wickets fell. Captain D. Straten steadied the ship with 73, but wickets were falling regularly at the other end resulting in the visitors reaching 191 all out from 44 overs. Adam Somerfield took 3 wickets.

In reply Isham showed no signs of taking the foot off the gas as Adam Somerfield (108n) continued his good afternoon and along with Kalvin Lodder (77no) the pair took advantage of some wayward bowling. Adam was dropped at mid-wicket with 90 on the board – the only time either Isham batsman looked in difficulty.
10.05.09 - Saturday Sides Stumble

It was a poor day for both Saturday sides as the 1st XI struggled on a poor pitch away at Old Northamptonians, whilst the 2nd XI faired little better with a losing draw at home to Harlestone.

The 1st XI would have felt confident of victory during tea after keeping the hosts down to a moderate score of 211 for 9 from their 50 overs. Andy Law was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 for 63 from his 15 overs. But on a deteriating pitch, the ON’s spinners took full advantage – Waqar Ali helping himself to 6 wickets from 13.1 overs. Tim Robinson top scored for Isham with 47 before falling to Ali.

Back at Isham, the 2nd might look back on this as a missed chance as they could only score 165 from their 50 overs, leaving them 50 short of the target. Earlier Harlestone were bowled out but not before Matt Haeper (38) Rajiv Raval (34) and Michael Allen (30) had put together useful knocks in the middle order to set Isham 216 to win. Peter Wills and Dave Hobbs both picked up 3 wickets.

In reply Ian Kelland scored 82 whilst Abid Zia scored a quickfire 33, but overs were running out and Isham decided on the taking the losing draw points.

08.05.09 - 2 Wins From 2 For Under 17s

The U-17's played host to Raunds on a breezy overcast evening and the opening bowling attack of E.Hayes and D.Conyard restricted the visitors to 32 for 2 off the first 8 overs. The next 4 overs came from O.Brown and J.Claypole picking up a further wicket leaving Raunds on 56 for 3 off 12. With Raunds looking to increase the tempo  it was up to V.Mistry and A.Waring to close out the innings. Some lusty blows from the Raunds middle order saw them  finish on 93 for 6 with V.Mistry picking up a couple of wickets along the way.

Captain E.Leach opened with A.Waring to begin the chase with Alex dominating most of the strike up until the 6th over which saw the first Isham wicket tumble, that of the skipper mis-timing a pull shot. V.Mistry came in at 3 and put on a partnership of 46 before being bowled taking the score to 69 for 2 off 12. As the light faded next in was J.Claypole who batted with a new sense of control and together with Alex eased Isham over the winning line in the 16th over.
